I Helped An Elderly Gent Yesterday.

In the Supermarked. I was doing some fruit and veg shopping and noticed him struggling to open the produce bag. I've struggled with them before so I wondered if I should help him or would he feel I was being patronised.

As I walked past him I jokingly said, "you have to spit on it"! I always wet my thumb and index finger to open the bags.

We laughed and he went pretendy "ptui ptui" on the bag.

I went around and got some tomatoes and deliberated whether I should get the lemons from USA or limes from Aus.

When I looked up he was still patiently struggling with the bag.

I felt bad then about the flippant spit comment and said "can I help you"? He gave me the bag and I showed him how I lick my thumb and finger and the bag opened straight away! (It's not always that easy).

Anyway we had shared another laugh about it and went about our shopping.

I had to get the fruit and veg guy to help me with mine once.

Hijacked by the faceless. I wonder why they haven't bee removed for being off topic. 

This was a nice little thread sharing a good deed and all of a sudden its targeted by the mods. Must be a slow night or just bored but its all over now, a slow march into blah blah land.

you are right there Georgiajake, you are you in your here and now with your own life experiences and life...we are online.We don't know what someone's life has and is about.

the same applies to all of us (regardless of  our age) ...we can't be anyone else.We can't know and live their life ...or know what others are going through right now.

Wouldn't it be good if everyone appreciated that  the 'you don't know what it's like'  applies to each of us ?

I expect to be able to have an adult discussion without being told what to think & write. I don't expect posts to be edited, removed or told what to think.

I don't like the way our conversations are spied on on here. Are we living in China??? I don't believe that spying on posters, removing posts & being told what we can talk about is even legal.

I don't like the PM's telling me to cool it oir just a friendly reminder, yeah right.

What's going on on here?? surely we are adult enought o regulate what we say within the boundries of social contact & conversation. We can report if a post is off colour but to be spied on, our every post read, posts removed, getting  banished or punished by faceless mods is unacceptable in any forum.

I believe we should all complain about it to ebay & tell them to cool it themselves.

How do you know that is what is happening? perhaps someone is reporting the posts and the mods come in to moderate.....................that's their job, isn't it?

I wouldn't call it spying.

Some forums have a counter thing that says how many are signed in and how many are watching.......... I have been amazed at times at the few posting and the many "spying" who never post.

Wonder why ebay don't have one?

there isn't free speech in this Country ....it is only free and techniquely and potentially unpunishable if it is within the bounds of the Law 

and then there is our user agreements which we all agreed to .That is a way of ebay  protecting the image of their Company ,them abiding by Laws  both Nationally and Internationally as well as all showing that each member is respected .

I agreed to those terms as no doubt all users did.

I don't have a problem with them being applied  fairly and evenly.

SF, If this wasn't visible ..many threads wouldn't have existed .. pickering's  and other journo's of a similar kind

attacks on our former PM may have been keep to people's bed rooms ?

I always try to post within the rules of the forum, sometimes I obviously don't................

the press seem to have quite enough freedom and judging by the standards of what I see, so does everyone else.
