YAY - Authors

Richard Flanagan  announced that he was donating his $40,000 cash prize to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

Bob Graham announced that he was giving $10,000 of his prize money to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

BOO -  Abbott Government

The ILF is a privately funded charity, which is a good way for an Aboriginal organisation to operate these days given that the government’s ripping a cool $534 million out of Indigenous programs over the next five years, including $9.5 million slated for Indigenous language support.

Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, an organisation that’s a tad miffed with the government at the moment over its new migration laws.

Ever thought that if Labour hadn't spent our way into the debt that Abbott might not have needed to cut quite so hard ?????

Quite a lot of fat in some of the Indigineous programs. Tightening the belt a bit might make them less wasteful.

The ILF is good though.

Well, I better finish my book. If I'm lucky some publisher my like it and I can ask TA for support.

Can't stop laughing.

Labor didn't leave an uncontrollable debt and Abbott has doubled it in a year.

Abbott just want to squeeze the last drop of blood from the lower end of the scale to fatten up the bank accounts of those that don't need his help.

Good on them. I like Richard Flanagan's attitude. It's not like he's loaded or anything. He was looking into fifo work before he one his Man Booker Prize because he was going broke  😄

If they felt that way they should have refused the accolades and the money.

Churlish and rude to make a point to the insult the PM awards on the night. I felt they shamed themselves and the whole idea of the PM Literary Awards.

It was the left who made it political and they did themselves no favours but it's no surprise from them.
