I never watch this carp but the tele was on.
Thank goodness I watched long enough to hear him tell what I really am.
My personality disorder has miraculously disappeared?!!

People who have a puffed up opinion of themselves always suffer a stupendous fall from grace.
eg: Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard come to mind. One was a socialist incompetent and the other thought he could walk on water. Bet they wish they had have had more empathy for the ordinary people of Australiaa now.

Ordinary, what does it mean? are all the people who go about their busines just ordinary people...yes they are, ordinary is just a descriptor to the masses of people who inhabit the earth and there's no other word that can be subscribed to us.
Or would you prefer to be called outstanding brilliant and honour worthy and would that satisfy your opinion of yourself?
There's nothing wrong with ordinary people that's what we are to people who don't know us personally.
...........................................................................................................................................................................................................
Why not just say 'other people' then or 'other Australians' or simply 'Australians' as other people normally would.
The offensiveness of being referred to as 'ordinary' by Hockey is degrading because he, by his decisions, words and actions believes that other people, those on low incomes are sub-human.

What kind of people do you believe only think of themselves ?

Ordinary is not an insult. The marketplace of outrage is open for business pfftt.

If Hockey had not gained his position as Treasurer and said what he has said and decided what he has decided for the economic future for low income Australians....a prospect of losing about 15% in their yearly income.........I would not care that he referred to me as: an 'ordinary' Australian.

Calling people ordinary isn't very flattering.
.....................................................................................................................................................
paintsew : It's not about flattery. That is most superficial
I agree, flattery wasn't the right word there probably.
If someone shows another person a new car they have just purcased or a new flower that has just opened in the garden and that person replies with 'That is rather ordinary". They are not being complimentary.
