Activist group Beyond Green has come up with an excellent plan to make things easier for Brandis in his push to collect your metadata and how to save money.  All you need to do is cc all of your emails to Brandis.  Email address included in the article.

It should save the government up to $400 million.

Has Get it Up changed its name? Beyond Green seems to be playing catch up. The government, via its information gathering agencies, probably knows what brand of cereal we prefer, what bus we catch, and which team we support.

In the UK, GCHQ listened in on what was said and picked up key words.

This was going on for years.

Prank text messages sent to MPs phones via their public emails do not constitute hacking, Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull says.

Ministers, including Attorney-General George Brandis and Environment Minister Greg Hunt, have been targeted by online activists campaigning against broader metadata storage laws and in Mr Hunt's case – for action on climate change. In one instance, Mr Hunt replied, asking "sorry who is this?"

Other MPs who have linked their public parliamentary email accounts to their iMessage accounts are thought to have also been targeted, with one source telling Fairfax Media the problem was widespread on Monday.

MPs have been told to disable their emails and mobile numbers from Apple's iMessage service.
