You can take Kudos back
"Well, plainly, I wouldn't say that."
is what he actually said, I was too slow to edit
"The best thing we can do for all Australians, rich and poor alike, is get the budget back under control so that the Government can continue to deliver effectively in the medium and long-terms the services that every Australian needs, but particularly low income people." he told reporters in Bungendore.
They have reporters in Bungendore??? what was he doing in Bungendore?

dear oh dear, even the UnAustralian had a go, best to grovel when even rupes is upset....
Treasurer Joe Hockey has delivered a grovelling apology for suggesting the “poorest people either don't have cars or actually don't drive very far” and that the government’s proposed fuel excise increase was a progressive tax measure.
Mr Hockey had initially stood by the comments he had made on Brisbane radio on Wednesday, stating he was sorry if they had been callous but insisting he had statistical evidence on his side.

Love to see Hockits 'stats' and compare to these below:
and here: ‘HES 2009–10 Detailed tables’ and ‘Australia_Data_Tables_2009-10′ from the ABS site.)
Unfortunately for Joe, the data just doesn’t support his claim. I looked at the 2009-10 Australian Bureau of Statistics data and did some calculations. As you can see below, poor people are hit FAR harder than middle-class and rich people.
Fuel spend as a % of net worth
Poor Australians spend 45 times as much on fuel as rich Australians (as a % of their net worth).
This graph is divided into 5 equal groups (‘quintiles’), by how much they’re worth – total assets minus total liabilities. The ‘Lowest’ quintile represents the poorest people.
Fuel spend as a % of gross household income
Poor Australians spend 3.4 times as much on fuel as rich Australians (as a % of their income).
This graph is divided into 5 equal groups (‘quintiles’), by how much they earn per week, before tax. The ‘Lowest’ quintile represents the poorest people.
Data sources
As mentioned above, I used ABS data to derive my calculations. Here are the tables and rows I used, if you’d like to double-check me:
These file names and row details will make sense to you once you download the files (‘HES 2009–10 Detailed tables’ and ‘Australia_Data_Tables_2009-10′ from the ABS site.)
Do you think Joe is lying or just ignorant?
This government has certainly shown it’s very happy to lie.
But I’m not sure if Joe’s lying in this case, or just ignorant.
Either way, it’s a good insight into Joe’s world view…

I think he should be sorry for bringing back the language of rich and poor.
Charles Dickens died long ago and we really don't need to find his world and drag ourselves backwards like that.
Labelling people as poor is unforgivable, imo.
What the heck is wrong with lower income earners instead of poor people? Labelling people as poor went out years ago and there is no need for a return to that language.
And further, Gillard was attacked relentlessly over class warfare for nothing. Where is the outrage over this mob of cretins and their full blown class warfare? These puppets of Rupe are masters of it. Sirs and dames, poor people, all out of Dickens days.

Did anyone see channel 10 news? The reporter said there were 6 "sorry's" in that groveling apology lol
8 times in about 6 minutes, and babbling that he has no "evil intent"...hahahahahahahhhhahahahahahahah it's funny but a little terrifying the total lack of competent people that are leading the country now. A shuffle would be pretty pointless, just more rotten apples, there isn't a single LNP member of govt up to the job, any job.
