Not necessarily.

If they do jail time here though, I would want to see that deportation was mandatory the day they walked out of prison. Not negotiable or up for appeal.

The point I was trying to make, I guess, is too many serious offenders don't face deportation at all & sometimes if they do, some citizens go around trying to halt the process, citing all the excuses-traumatic time in their own country, different values etc

Personally, I think those excuses might help explain but don't excuse serious criminal behaviour.

There are also plenty of crimes committed by home grown Aussies, sadly  they cant be deported

True. So we don't have to import more.

Specially when they cross our borders illegally.

Which shows they have no respect for our laws.

Which is not surprising, seeing this pedo was given a protection visa AFTER he came here illegally.
