It was almost the midnight hour and I was driving home from work. No traffic at all on the road and I guess it was too easy to not notice I was speeding. I heard the whoop woop and looked in my rear vision mirror and there he was.
I've seen cop shows on TV where if the driver gets out of car the police can shoot 'em. So I stayed in my car and wound down the window and my kitty heart was pounding. Not because he was built like a footballer but because it's my first time.
He wanted my licence and he sat in his car for ages! Why? It's not like I have a rap sheet (cop shows again).
Then he gave me a speeding ticket which I deserved and off I went red faced.
When was the last time you were given a traffic ticket?

I was joking. However, other drivers caught doing naughty stuff (especially those in stolen cars or without licences) probably would take an opportunity to run.

1990, 70km/h in a 60 when hidden speed cameras were first introduced here.
Still believe they should be hidden, as from then on, it woke me up that they could be anywhere, and not like today's mentality where everyone screams they should be visible to "slow people down". Slow them down for what? The 100 metres approaching the visible camera, then carry on as they please?
If any rubbish bin, billboard or parked car might be harbouring a speed camera, wouldn't that be more effective in slowing people down everywhere, not just pin point locations? Must admit though, the fines now for very minor offences are very much over the top. Mine then was $70 for 10ks over.

My nephew recently was on the road at 2.00am, he was the only car, he saw cops going opposite way, they turned around pulled him up, he asked what he had done, they said *nothing, but you are the only car on the road*..they did their usual checking of things, including a breath test......he had 3 drinks earlier in the night and was just over the limit, they sat with him for 45mintues, took the test again, told him that he would lose his licence for 6 months, from the end of this month.............so he is still driving.
Just too bad that he was the only car on the road and the one and only time he had a drink, he loses his licence.

Yep it's an exxy fine! I don't know how I'm going to pay it. 😞
What's this about rego stickers becoming obsolete?

That's what happens, while the serial offenders get away with it time and time again

My daughter got a parking fine this year - $100. She didn't buy a pay and display ticket & was parked for about 6 minutes. The parking warden nearby must have noticed her park and not buy a ticket and headed straight to her car.
She paid up and realised it was her own fault. I would have thought parking fines were around $40 before that.
The retailers in the city are always complaining about lack of customers, who needs a $100 parking fine added to your shopping bill though, when there is a big mall 15 minutes away with free parking.

My comment went missing 😞
Too bad?

CAR registration stickers will be scrapped in a move estimated to save Victorian taxpayers almost $20 million a year.
Premier Denis Napthine and Roads Minister Terry Mulder today said the change will be introduced for cars and light vehicles from January 1 next year.
Industry groups, who have argued the stickers are outdated and lobbied for them to be scrapped, welcomed the decision as did the Opposition.
