It was almost the midnight hour and I was driving home from work. No traffic at all on the road and I guess it was too easy to not notice I was speeding. I heard the whoop woop and looked in my rear vision mirror and there he was.
I've seen cop shows on TV where if the driver gets out of car the police can shoot 'em. So I stayed in my car and wound down the window and my kitty heart was pounding. Not because he was built like a footballer but because it's my first time.
He wanted my licence and he sat in his car for ages! Why? It's not like I have a rap sheet (cop shows again).
Then he gave me a speeding ticket which I deserved and off I went red faced.
When was the last time you were given a traffic ticket?

Only ever had one, I was following another family member and trying not to get lost, luckily, he also got one!

Az I can understand if you are trying to following someone and not wanting to lose them how you can take your eye off the speedometer!
Twinkles it was $290.

Ouch, exxy fine.
The policeman sitting in his car for a while might have been looking up online for any your past demeanours, checking rego was current, the car wasn't stolen (lol) etc (in NSW we don't have rego stickers anymore)... you could have done a runner.
I had a minor (speed camera) speeding fine about 8 years ago, $75. In a zone that was 100kmph, then reduced to 80kmph because of major roadworks (which is when I got fined, although the roadworks hadn't even started at that time) then the limit when back to 100kmph when the new highway was finished.

I was joking. However, other drivers caught doing naughty stuff (especially those in stolen cars or without licences) probably would take an opportunity to run.
