If I have to pay to see the GP

I might just take a bit longer and get my moneys worth.

Usually I am aware of people waiting (but there will be less of them apparently) so I can take my time 🙂

I have trouble with accents, no matter which one, Irish, Scottish, Chinese, Indian, etc.

My doctors speak English but have different racial backgrounds.

I rarely need to see  the doctor so it doesn't worry me.

I do feel for people who need to see a doctor on a regular basis, though, like ppl with children, or the elderly.

I would pay more-just to see a doctor that speaks English........Richo.

i got refused service at a medical centre after declining to see a doctor who had appaling english

i rang before hand and asked for a doctor who's first language was english..........was told that would be fine.

if i am paying for a service i should have a right as to who provides it

apparently i am racist

I don't think its racists to ask to have someone you can understand, no point going if you cant understand whats being said or  their instructions.

It is a stupid idea which will cost Australia more in the long run.........and the AMA are not known for being left wing, (just in case someone decides to call them odd names and make weird accusations).

From the AMA

A proposed $6 patient co-payment for bulk billed GP and emergency department visits is an ill-conceived measure that fails to address the long-term causes of rising health costs, the AMA has warned.

But AMA President Dr Steve Hambleton and a chorus of other health and economics experts warn that the idea would be, at best, a short-term expedient likely to come at the cost of an even greater national health bill in the future.

General practice was the most efficient part of the health system, he said, helping minimise the number of people who ended up needing far more expensive hospital or chronic care.

We have the flying Dr fly in once a month to the outback and it is free to see them.
