that's a very personal question Donna, and one I would never ask of you, assuming the obvious...

For a moment there I thought you really cared about pollution. But I guess with all the plastic junk you import for resale, you'd be the last person to worry about the pollution in manufacture and pollution in disposal it creates.
As you were.
so you havent a couch a car a tv a phone a computer etc etc ? all australian made from natural materials aye ? you are funny icy.

Close to one third of the world's current population is already starving because there's just not enough food being produced to feed them.
Unless steps are taken right now to address the issue, when the world's population has doubled in less than another 50 years and there's insufficient food to satisfy ourselves, let alone export to other countries, I predict a breakdown of civilisation as we know it and a shift to total anarchy where only the strongest and fittest will survive.
there is a solution to that.
stop breeding like rabbits.
as long as it is normal to ask "why don't you have/want kids?" instead of "why do you have/want kids?" people will keep breeding as if there was no tomorrow. it is much more difficult to produce more food than to not create another mouth to feed.

But I sure as hell would hate to be contributing to this:
From this:
And then blaming it on Mr Abbott thank you very much, Mr Lake!

The Pacific Rubbish Gyre has been accumulating since well before the LNP's ascenscion to power, Donna, so your attempt at laying the blame at Mr Abbotts feet is just an attempt, and a pathetic one at that, considering how long you've been making a living out of importing and onselling the kind of plastic junk found in those great rubbish patches.
Some reading for you:
With regard to "living in our own filth". Some of our marine wildlife and other are already living it. It's only a matter of time until it reaches us here at the top of the food chain.
Mr Abbott is only a tiny link in the chain, as are you and I.
Time we stopped feeding the manufacturers and the retailers, both with our raw materials and our greedy purchase for the end product.
Thank you.

If you think a carbon tax would prevent this, I question just who the "dumbo" is, Lakes.
