If you were really struggling financially...........

what would you appreciate most in the way of a food parcel from a friend ??

My friend is really struggling financially - she has 2 children to feed.

I want to give her some food, to help out  - and not appear to be rude or anything, in doing so.

What should I give her - I was going to take milk and bread over.

Should I just smile and say "I picked you up a few things when I was at the shops" and leave them on the kitchen table   ???    What should I say ??

or what should I do ?    She will not ask for help, and makes sure she never appears to be in desperate circumstances,  but she needs help desperately.  I thought a bag of food would help the most.

And if you were in her position - what would you most appreciate in a bag of shopping ???

thanks

Probably add 1 or 2 of the luxury things she wouldn't buy for herself? like a packet of biscuits and coffee? or a fruit and veg hamper? Just put it in her kitchen and say what you said above........ you are a nice thoughtful friend.

That's lovely! Hope she appreciates it, surely she would?

Id say definately the bread & milk, what about a jar of spag sauce and a packet of pasta? or some sao (type) biscuits? Teabags?

Ive done similar a few times over the years and just popped bags onto bench with a quick "I picked up a few bits & pieces thought you could use..." and kept it short.

Then if I was staying Id change subject to "pop the kettle on" or some other topic, or if you had to leave straight away you could say "love to stay for a cuppa but running a little late for my bla-blah appointment"

Goodluck 🙂

If you were really struggling financially...........

Once I made a baby parcel up for my husbands brother & g/f who had been stressing about how the baby was due in a matter of weeks and she didnt have nappies/ formula/ bottles/ singlets etc. Her previous 2 kids were 5 & 7 and had only a few baby items remaining.

So as Id already been picking up items weekly to make up a gift for them so I purchaced a lot more things including all the things she'd mentioned and we popped over for a surprise visit.

I wanted to get the items to her asap so they could be washed (onsies/ singlets/ socks) before bubba arrived...

When we arrived we found they had just that day purchased the kids a new kitten from the Pet shop (over $200) plus a whole batch of kitty accessories to go with!

She had such a guilty look on her face opening the package, hubby & I were not impressed as they were co-renting with his parents, and always struggling with bills etc.... AND had several neglected pets already!!!

If it were me I would anonymously leave a box of food at the door and if I had the means a voucher or two.

I think the surprise and knowing some one cares would make the world of difference to her life 🙂

I did this with a very proud elderly lady. I bought boxes of veggies and eggs etc... then I took some out of each box, so there was heaps of it and I begged her to please help me... we are only two people and it will all go off before we can finish eating it..etc... she was pleased to help me out.
