Because it is trolling. How many people view threads and don't post in them? Just because they don't post in them doesn't mean they don't have opinions/views of the topic, what goes on in them. It just makes them not want to join in if they see that sort of carry on.

I don't need to post alongside people in a particular thread. to have interacted with them on CS. There are other threads you know. Doesn't matter to me what  long running thread they may usually post in, if I see them post in other threads.
