I have been thinking lately that how one country like Mainland China caused the shut down of another country namely Italy, just like that, and countless deaths all over the globe and some countries are on the verge of having a recession placed upon them.
China has millions of it's own people living around the world but they are not armed, so we like to think, they do not represent any threats to peace anywhere. All it took was one or two wet-markets to unleash this cataclysm upon us all. It is stuffing up our daily life, family and freedom to commute to work to earn a living.
Not one angry shot was fired so it cannot be interpreted as a declaration of war. But, many has died. So, what can/should we call this? What is consider as the appropiate retribution by our leaders world-wide, towards China? Any comments?

I have comments, but I would be banned from the boards, under the interpersonal dispute rules. if I expressed them.

Influenza kills hundreds of thousands per year without crisis - 60,000 in America not so long ago - so what makes this bug so worrying to those that have actually lived or are living through an established widespread advanced infection ?

Best "retribution" is to maintain trade and provide the means for Chinese students and visitors to tour here - just need facilities to house tourists in isolation for 2 weeks , need not be behind barb wire , could easily make Kangaroo Island suitable and give them something useful to do in restoring burnt land for the duration - might even end up being their best vacation. planting gum trees for cute koalas

What retribution would you suggest for countries like Australia, the US, etc (whose populations have rampant heart disease, cancer, etc, because of their woeful diet) when other countries follow our example and people start getting sick and dying?
We could have stopped people coming in but we didn't. The govt kept saying we have it under control, while doing absolutely nothing. We allowed the Chinese to flee China and come back here for quite some time before they decided it was finally time to quarantine those arriving, by which time the horse had well and truly bolted.
What I would really like to know is how is affecting our daily lives, our families, and our freedom to commute to work to earn a living? Maybe I've missed something but I didn't think there were any travel restrictions with Australia and that 99.9999999% of us were still going about our daily lives as normal. I would have thought from your comments that our whole economy had been locked down and the entire population were confined to their homes and would be shot if they stepped outside.
