I hope this leads to much needed change when it comes to family violence.

They are shocking statistics but I'm fairly confident that the new Ban the Burqa Womens Liberation Group will be at the forefront lobbying the government, flooding social media, commenting in the msm and talking with the crock jocks about changing what is a national disgrace.

That is incredibly disturbing.
Quite often victims do just that. For the sake of the children having both parents.
Family and friends unfortunately can do nothing as the victim is usually over the age of 18 and has to make the choice. Even then the courts are often too soft.
Sometimes though police get called by neighbours/family etc just one time too many and take charge. Sometimes a judge gets sick of seeing the same face and does something. All too frequently though nothing is done by the authorities

The worst thing is that untrained people are sent out to pick up kids and transport them to offending parents when controlled access is ordered.
Do you know what it takes to get a job like that? It's pretty much the same as sitting through a real estate class.
Good on Rosie.

More needs to be done to protect women and children who are victims of family violence. There has been talk of perpertrators being fitted with ankle device to monitor their location and the victim having a device that alerts them when the perp. is x amount of distance from them.
Family violence is very topical at the moment and the Courts are getting tougher. The police are starting to take family violence more seriously but still have a long way to go in regards to attitude. Police Commisioner Ken Lay is passionate about family violence. The local police station has a domestic violence liaison officer who is brilliant.
The statistics are disturbing.
Women need to know what help is available to them. That this Government has cut funding to women's refuges and support services has made it so much harder. With me, my crisis worker had to ring other support services because their funding had run out for particular things. She said that this is what all domestic violence support services have to do now. One support service only has enough funding for the intake of 20 women. They all do an amazing job and I am so grateful for all of the assistance and support that I have been given.
Rosie Batty is an inspirational woman.
