i had one of the toshiba's from tvsn a while back and yes they are fine also perhaps a more solid one too
you really do get what you pay for with these I bought rach's through makeitmine they are ofcourse far dearer but its just taken out of her pension so for her it was a good way to buy
if you have cash go around some of the stores they will give better deals these days as they want your cash 🙂

Whirlpool have a section about android tabs and ipads under mobiles with lots of info. Or gizmodo, cnet etc sites have a lot of reviews.
The big questions are
ipad, android, etc
3G/4G or wifi only
then go hunt out a bargain.. :^O

I would look at the
Ipad - preferably the new version as it has a better charger now
Macbook air
I have both and love them - I use Macs as I do not understand PC's at all and have never got the hang of them or the icons or really anything about them
but Mac's I understand easily
the Macbook air is reasonably priced and is light and easy to use
if you have your eg sim card in the Ipad, you can also change a setting and it becomes a Wifi hotspot

Personally, in your location, with kids, and travelling a lot, I'd go the 3/4G version of ipad, galaxy asus or whatever. But depends on cost as well. I got the 4G as I'm in remote area and like access when I'm out and about. Plus it was in a deal with phone.
But that's just me :^O

Provided it is a 3G ipad. A lot are only wifi and some suppliers only sell the wifi version.

I have a Galaxy 4G. Daughter and sister have new ipads.
It took me ages to decide and then I only chose galaxy because I could package it on Telstra, before the new ipad was released.
Now I would have to think about it for weeks again before deciding.
