Is a degree a degree after 10 years?

Strange question I know but if someone completes a degree more than 10 years ago and is currently studying  a uni course but may transfer to the same stream as the original degree to get work, is it not recognised anymore?  If you have a degree with one institution why does another say you have to do more work because they only recognise a portion of it???

I thought a degree was a degree.

i started a new course last year and got two years credit towards it based on the arts degree i completed 12 years ago.  it depends very much on the field of the degree and if it becomes outdated.

Thanks Vampire, I believe you are right. We were able to contact the other uni to see if the qualification would be recognised and it seems it would be if the organisation who employs also does. 

Sounds confusing lol!
