My Grandson rang and offered to give me a lift to the shops as my favourite shop has 40% off all stock. That was so nice of him but I declined.

Yes, I is called "black friday" Glad to see we have so much in common. The idea from a business standpoint is get people into the store, using a deal too good to be true and have the item in a limited number. Keep them in your store waiting for the item so thsat they might buy other things, uasally decent deals also, but not as much so as what they came in for. It's kinda a bait and switch. More people than not, will not get what they came after.
Not here, but where I used to live 100 miles to the north, Theres a bunch of charity thrift stores where items get donated and sold. A week or two after Christmas is the best time to hit those thrift stores. People get new items as gifts uasally replacing older like items, and give their old things to the thrifts, being the holliday season, they are in a giving mood rather than a selling mood, add the cold weather and it's prefreable to having a yard sale.
Thats why i'm so good at finding deals, I take things like that into consideration. I used to do pretty good on a small ammount of money, But all that stuff, things I collected has been taken. I even collected those expensive all aluminum vacumes, I seen they were like 500 dollars new, and would find them at thrift stores for 15 to 30 dollars. Uasally with a little cleaning and tinkering, they work great.
But enough of that, I wanna hear about the deals in Australia. What did everyone get? How'd ya make out?

Hi Joanie 🙂
I have just gotten over a swimming phobia, I guess, and am now loving it so bought a spare swimsuit. Exciting for me anyway 🙂
in terms of a bargain it was pretty good (about 130$ down to 15$)
and some everyday basics like T-shirts for me and hubby.
Standard stock reduced, not just cheap stuff brought in for the sales. I know stores will do that, too. Friend of mine used to work in a big store where the days before the sale they would be unpacking fresh "bargain" goods just for the sales.
all online from one of the major department stores. Don't like crowds much.
hope your week has been a nice one.

Regularly 130$s, that must be some swimsuit. I don't face those kinda crowds unless i'm after a big ticket item like a laptop computer, TV, or video game system. But any more you just about have to miss Thanksgiving dinner or have it a day early, or after. You gotta be like in the first 35 or so in line and too many people will camp out in line if need be. Have someone bringing them coffee.
hope your week has been a nice one.
Has not been as cold these past couple days, thats good i guess, otherwise, same as this past year. It's gonna be ruff until I can get into an apartment and I'm beggining to wonder if thats gonna happen at all. I hope your days are nice as well.

Wish you all the best for next year Joanie. I have had some difficult times too but nothing like you.
the swimsuit was designed and made in Australia. One pays a premium for that, if one can find anything still made here.
it's also separates, so you can get different sizing, that tends to be a bit pricey at times too.

The horrendous traffic
The impossible parking situation
The sweaty crowds
The long queues at the sales counters
um...what was the question?
(Even before I developed osteoarthritis, any and all of the above would be enough to put me off).

First time ever I braved the shops today, it was crazy. Had to park miles away and by the time we left people were having to park even further away than us. The queue in Target ran the entire length of the store and halfway along the next wall as well
My son was the only one who got bargains, 20% off his dvds at JB Hifi so he was happy. Daughter had Cotton On gift cards and managed to fluff around the shop forever and finally buy several things that werent even on sale
Nothing for me apart from a well deserved and needed coffee

With all of us not going to the sales.
Who went.
