Is government control of the education system a desirable "reform"

The question is, should government influence our education systen?

When governmet says it wants the same opertunities for every child is it really saying that it wants uniformity in education , such as what is being taught and how it is being taught.?

Is it better to have diversity in education as to what and how kids are educated?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Podster, I did lousy at school so that must make me an individual.

Do you think that the cookie cutter one size fits all school system provided an accurate record of your true value, worth and capabilities?

Would a more tailored approach that catered more specifically to your needs, learning style and abilities have produced a better result do you think?

Children should be shown HOW to think not what to think. Any parent who has succeeded in achieving that has done all that is required of them, sadly thoes parents are few and far between

Which parent are you? Did you leave it to the education system to educate your child? IF not what did you do?

I don't think this thread is about an Education systems capabilities to teach reading, writing and maths, history etc.. it is about brainwashing........

Will this man stop the brainwashing in schools?

It is not curiousity at all, it is most relevant to your accusatiosn/assumptions.

If you want to say parents do this or that, and you are a parent, why can't you back up your assumptions, by informing us how you dealt with the education system, (if you were a parent of school children)

If one is not a parent, then how on earth do they know what goes on in the education system.
