which is my entire beef with murdoch in a nutshell, i wish to form my own opinions, and a partisan publisher cannot deliver that. instead of reporting information the reader can draw conclusions from, they print opinion backed-up with information selectively edited or outright fabrications.

In 2010 (or there about) they tried to use Masayoshi Son against the NBN. Trouble was he loves the concept of the NBN. On watching the event referenced in the article it was clear that the Aus reporter did not listen to a Masayoshi said and was waiting to jump in with his loaded question about the NBN. He then misreported the answer. What MS said could not be related to the story written in any way.
News Corp take the approach of telling porkies in huge headlines then, if they are forced they will issue an apology on page 20 as long after the event as possible.

I think their power may diminish in years to come, how many young people do you see reading newspapers?
My kids are on twitter - not so much for the news but for information generally. They wouldn't dream of picking up a newspaper for information, nor are they interested in current affairs shows, it isn't any wonder the Libs don't want the NBN.

That and the competition in payTV that will be enabled by NBN. I don't really get that either as the NBN would allow them to improve their payTV business model. Delivering that over NBN would save them bucket loads of cash but already some of their clients are gearing up to be competitors Rupert is not impressed. And to think I defended him in public a few years ago. Risked being pelted by tomatoes defending Rupert in a media presentation at a uni :^O:^O

lol.. Twitter... how accurate is that for an information source??
Wasn't it a tweet that started a downward spiral of the USA stock exchange today???
I am so glad my kids don't use twitter to source any information...
And who says Libs don't want an NBN.. lots of Libs want an NBN of some sort.. they just don't trust this government to give it to us on time and within budget..

Paul Bongiorno is a respected neutral journalist.
Twitter is the same as any other social media source. Check the info before jumping to conclusions. All the news outlets promote their stories on twitter.
Tony Abbott does not want the NBN and the LNP version is a second rate bit of an upgrade to what we have now. The issues caused by the aging copper won't be solved nor will the upload problems. The Quigley designed NBN is a huge step forward for the country and highly praised around the world. We would be crazy to stop it's build now and that is exactly what the LNP plan to do.
The hearing did not even finish this week before the FUD started. There were news corrections (about the meeting) demanded before the meeting was even finished.
