Is there any way to find out....

The owner of a property's address?

I know the name of the person, and I also know he lives in QLD.

I want to find the fellow who owns our unit, I can't ask the RE because I have a feeling he wants to sell. We want to cut them out by negotiating with him to buy, if the price is right.

curious

why can't you ask the RE?

Because then the price will go up astronomically because of the commission.

Have you had a look at your copy of the lease? His address or phone number might be on there somewhere, or at least some more information.

Joz, they wouldn't tell me because they get paid to handle the property. I know what it's worth to me Joz, if my offer wasn't accepted I have nothing to lose. We have a lease until next year, we can look elsewhere.

i'd still ask the RE for his ph. no., they might oblige

RE's can get hold of anyones contact details through the real estate insititute of their state. just by giving them the address. can any joe from down the road do the same?

Signatures suck.

the vendor might give the authority to a RE in any case, and like most owners they'd would want to get the most for their property

In Qld, they do not need to do it through the REIQ, they have the info from the titles office at their disposal.  As I said, "any joe" can do the same at the titles office for a fee.

But the owner doesn't get the commission, the agent gets it.

I have just done this, been to the titles office, got the name and address of the owner, who lives in another state, wrote to them, bought the unit from them, and now live in it.  I would not touch a RE agent if I didn't have to, because of their huge commissions.

Beach, it only has his name on the RE lease, no other identifying info at all. Joz, they would be suspicious as to why I wanted the owners details, because the owner has entrusted the RE to act on his behalf regarding anything to do with his property.

I don't know of anyone in RE to ask them to get this info for me.

Joz, I feel sure if my offer to the owner was reasonable, he would jump at the offer and save himself the hassle and expense of having a RE agent sell the property for him.

not necessarily, more dosh in the vendors pocket which still mightn't affect the sale price

no skin of the buyers nose if the vendor gets a market value price for their property

Signatures suck.
