It Takes More Than One Person To Steal An Emu

Staff believe several people may have been involved in stealing an emu from a Sydney wildlife park.

There are also concerns for the welfare of the bird, which is likely to be "extremely stressed" by the ordeal of being taken from its home and forced over fences by its captors.

A large amount of feathers was all that remained in the adult female's enclosure at Featherdale Wildlife Park on Tuesday morning when she was noticed missing.

There is another wildlife park south of Sydney - Symbio. They had rare monkeys stolen from there awhile ago too. (they were found and returned).

Seems nothing escapes a theif's eye.

They would have been very lucky not to be hurt, emus have huge claws and can deliver a savage kick that - in theory - has the ability to disembowel you.

I am planning on getting a couple of emu chicks later in the year, to raise for pets, apparently if they are raised from young and given lots of socialisation, care and attention they can become very tame and affectionate.

But wasn't me wot stole them, promise!

It would take a brave person unless they're chicks (not the thieves, the birds)...!!!

I'd eat emu if I was lost in the outback and starving, but as monsters said, I'd probably never catch on to kill it before it killed me.

I think this particular wildlife park has serious security issues. Recently they had a pair of Macau Parrots stolen.
