In my opinion it's our business if we want to turn boats around. They are Indonesian boats, crewed by Indonesians, participating in people smuggling.
We have the right to protect our borders & nobody can tell us what to do re safeguarding our country.
Indonesia know this.

I fully know about maritime history... i know that we have an obligation to save them.... BUT why does Indonesia not have an obligation?
If we wanted to go into their waters and drill for oil I bet they would not want us there.
they need to take some responsibility,.

indonesia have problems of their own with refugee numbers, to think australia is alone in this way is nonsense.

After however many years sitting in the opposition what on earth have they been doing? Twiddling their thumbs instead of creating some policies to go toelection with.
yes, JB was even more awful than normal; talking all over everybody else and giggling when told off. All what she had to say was repeating the usual. The fact is that the scheme in place now is not all that different to what Howard had, yet the boats keep coming; I wish interviewers would pull the LNP on that when they start spouting "we will stop the boats, we stopped them before, we will do it again..." Unless situation drastically improves nobody will stop the boats coming.
But then again, when the climate changes so much that Australia will be perpetually either under water or burning, then it will be interesting to see the boats going the other way.

Ms Bishop needs to be careful about what she says about Indonesian officials..... bordering on calling them dishonest?

As soon as they see the boats put a tow rope on and tow them back out to sea, make sure they have enough food, water and medical supplies to get back to where they came from and say "adios amego", don't come back here.

So because Indonesia has problems, is it ok for them to shove the problem of on to Australia?
