We have a 4 yr old i30 Hyundai one of the remote control key cases has cracked and fallen apart mine looks like it's about to suffer the same fate.
We bought 2 cases on ebay replaced the gutz into one of the new cases and it won't kick the motor over will it need to be re-programmed?
TIA

Thanks Joz, I can't understand why it won't work. Master F is pretty clued in with things like this he was rushing so perhaps it's just something simple.
I will contact him and send that youtube onto him.

if it functioned properly before the operation, freddie, then all the buttons should work now, he could've left some thing out
now worries kopen, she's an open board and i agree with what you said *better scroll up and re-check :-D*

What a pita to have happen Freddie, though I know a couple of peeps who've bought replacement remotes off eBay they've all had issues with them and have inevitably had to take them to the car dealer to have sorted out.

Hi ivy, it's a PIA alright and by rights should be covered under warranty you don't expect key cases to just fall apart after such a short time, the fact both cases have virtually just fell apart would indicate poor quality.
Joz I will check with my son and see if he left something out, he was rushing to get it done, so maybe he has omitted to put something back in.

Once you take the battery out (which simulates a flat battery) I think you need to reprogramme them.. Both guides are
about the same. google your "hoondy" year model and where is transponder"

Hello everybody.
Firstly, I must apologise to all those who have purchased these instructions from me over the past few months.
From May this year, Ebay revised their Downloadable Media Policy & decided to ban all digitally delivered items.
This meant that the instructions that I have been successfully emailing to people were now banned from being delivered by email.
I could have elected to print each set out & post them to buyers, but to be perfectly honest this would be both time consuming & an unnecessary use of resources (printer ink, paper, envelopes etc.) so I decided to simply stop listing in order to be a good boy & comply with the policies.
Unfortunately, not all members are as good at sticking to the rules as myself & several are still listing on a nudge, nudge, wink, wink, "I won’t actually state that I email the instructions even though I do" basis. This guide is dedicated to these members.
It would seem that the only way to make sure everybody sticks to the rules is to make sure that the information is made available to all, so rather than paying for the instructions to be emailed, here they are for free:
Procedure
1. Remove the lower crash panel (usually the piece of trim below the steering wheel & above the pedals) and locate the Remote control receiver unit. If it is not there, try behind the small piece of trim in front of the door opening (often referred to as the kick panel).
2. The switch on the side of the unit should be switched to the SET position.
3. Press the Door lock button or unlock button on the Transmitter quickly.
4. Return the switch to OFF position and then test remote control.
Programming remotes on 16 pin OBD Systems
Procedure
1. Locate the small black box below the steering column for remote function.
2. Remove the small piece of tape to uncover a hole with a switch inside.
3. With the ignition on, move the switch to the SET position.
4. Press the button on ALL remotes needed for the vehicle.
5. Return the switch to the OFF position.
6. Switch off the ignition and test all remotes.

thought i would supplement the guide with some extra info about programing the key fob for a hyundai coupe.
once you have removed the crash panel below the steering wheel, the unit is a small black box with a rubber duck ariel attached.
there are 2 10 mm bolts attached to it,
the left one is easy to get to but the right hand one is a real pain! but if you get under the pedals on your back with a torch you will see that the bracket can be wiggled about and will slide off with just the left bolt removed.
the procedure is as described in the other guide switch the unit to set with ignition on press the lock key on the fob.
if you have more than one do them both at the same time. set the switch back to the off position and put the left bolt back in to hold unit back in place. now the most important bit of info! once you have done the procedure and you press the key fob and nothing happens dont panic! take your keys out the ignition then try! your ignition key has a chip inside which disables the system so they have to be removed b4 it will work. if it still doesnt work try the steps again. hope this helps.
