About 3 1/2 years ago, I bought a kindle from the US site, (starting with A. )
I usually get my books from them but recently the site has been throwing up a suggestion that I switch to the Australian site instead. I can't see any value in doing so and not sure why I would, since I only buy electronic books from there.
Does anyone else use it?

So im looking at a book to buy for my kindle on Amazon and on the side it says
"Kindle titles are available for AU customers on Amazon.com.au.
Continue shopping at Amazon AU store"
I dont want to get it from the AU store but i dont seem to have a choice?
After the hassle I had last week I would have another email account for any Amazon.com.au purchase/s.
I had switched over to the Au site as a book I wanted wasn't available on the .com site and when I tried to switch back it wouldn't allow me to unless I had a US address. Previous to this I'd been able to switch back to the .com site with no problems but apparently they have since changed this option.
I dislike the Au site only because there is no wish list on it, and I like being able to add books that I can't buy now to a wish list for later on.
So set up another account for your au purchases is my recommendation.

I am sure you can still buy from the US site, I do. It does say on the au one you can go back to the US site?

I tried to switch countries but it kept asking me for a US address which is what I ended up having to make up to switch back to the US site.
I was even on the phone to the Amazon Help desk for over half an hour trying to sort it out. They are very helpful but did say that they had changed a few things and whereas before you could switch back and forth country wise, now it's different.
But I have it set up that while I may have a (fake) US address, my actual shipping address is my Australian address. Hard to explain, but that's how it worked for me.
In the meantime if there is a book I want on the Australian site then I have another email address/account set up just for that site.

Have you tried signing out and then open the US one, sign in and then buy? That is how mine went.

I think I did try but that didn't work. Believe me I was trying everything, went through 3 different Amazon staff in the process.
It's all sorted now, I can buy off either site, just have 2 different accounts that's all.
