LNP MP Steve Dickson has defected to Pauline Hanson's One Nation, with the move giving the party a seat in Queensland's hung parliament.
The Queensland Opposition MP and former Newman government minister quit the LNP this morning and had also removed references to the LNP from his website.
Mr Dickson, the Member for Buderim, said he believed the major political parties needed to "grow a backbone".
"I've had a choice to make — I'm putting my career on the line today," Mr Dickson said.
"I believe we have to put people before politics.
"I believe we have to put people before politics."
Cop that, Mal and Bill!

In Au we vote for the person not the party but I do wonder, if he had stood as a One Nation candidate, would he have still be elected? Guess we will won't know the answer until the next election.

Sorry I have to disagree....I vote for the party, not the person and have done so for most of my adult life.
I can only think of one election in the last 50 years where I changed my vote and voted for the person not the party.

Very true bushies.girl.
IMO if an elected member is disillusioned with the party they represent then they should leave and become an Independent until the next election. It is then up to the people if they want him as their member as an Independent or as a member of another party if that is the way he decides to go.
I feel it is very wrong to change parties between elections, especially so soon after being elected.

Yeah he was. I wonder where to next for the "I've done a lot of Asian" ... and "Biatches" guy?
Then again, party that espouses bigotry is bound to attact the worst types. *smiley-disgusted*
