Labor Abandons Principle for Politics So What's New

So Labor will not stand against the repeal of the disastrous CT but will try to flim flam the voters that it will cling to it's ETS & hope the voters will go down this tragic path with them again.

With all that's been written, post Labors massive loss, they still haven't faced the real reasons for their demise, their policies stunk, could not pass the smell test & the voters repudiated them.

In April 2010, I had to brief Kevin Rudd before the news conference in which he would announce he was postponing his pursuit of a carbon price.

That morning the Herald had broken the story before Rudd was prepared. He was burning with rage, not just over the leak but, I suspect, over his own decision. He sincerely believed in carbon pricing and was furious at himself and his colleagues for putting politics over principle. He was a man divided.

In the news conference, he attempted the impossible: to argue the government remained committed to carbon pricing, just not right now. Voters are quick to sniff a rat, and the whiff of one clung to the air like raw sewage: either Labor had the courage of its convictions or it didn't. This was the beginning of Rudd's end.

Labor seems about to repeat history. It is time to learn from Rudd's error. If the rumours are to be believed, Labor will announce it will allow Tony Abbott's repeal of the carbon tax but retain its faith in carbon pricing, in principle.

They are not against all carbon prices - just this carbon price.

Poor old Bill. He looked positively sick yesterday whilst he was announcing "I believe in climate change" mantra. Could he have looked any worse now he's top dog but has to be nice to his colleagues even though he chokes on it. His own colleagues have no time for him just like they hated Rudd so it's labor Rudd/Gillard/Rudd redux under this nasty little man.

He looked weak & ineffective, he's only used to lambasting & spitting on women & rabble rousing union gatherings..

Poor Bill, he has no personality, no charm, no attractive attributes, it's sure going to be fun watching him twist in the wind.

Yes, but in the long run Australia will pay  a huge price for being left behind the world.

Maybe that is an intended stunt to promote tourism. you know, the picture of a lovely, backward country full with hillbillies where things are just like in the old days. It's picturesc.

Well,it seems they'll only let the repeal go through if it is replaced with an ETS.What was the heading of this discussion again?

Labor is playing politics....AGAIN. They know they can't stop the repeal no matter what they do, they know Australians voted them out on this policy, they know they can stall it in the senate but it will still be repealed next July.

What they don't know is: if they think that going to another election on the carbon tax by another name will win it for them then they are delusional, but we already knew that.

What they want is what they don't have,  that is a record to stand on, so they have gone back to the CT hoping to use negative wedge politics for the next 3 years.

Hello Bill!!!!  the people don't want a CT, they don't want an ETS, why? because all it does is line the pockets of the EU at our expense, doesn't cut emissions & makes billionaires out of  liars & scare mongers.

What we are seeing today is the panicked bleating of the rent seekers seeing their cash cow drying up.

What's the bet that we will be served up Bill's "I believe" for the next 3 years?  Poor Bill, he looks like a rabbit in the headlights, he has no charisma or charm, whatever he utters is not believable, just like Rudd & Gillard, but he does have a short temper. Labor have shot themselves in the foot with this leader.
