Treasurer Joe Hockey is the "Masterchef of cooking the books".
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-06/has-the-government-doubled-the-budget-deficit/5423392
The August PEFO said the underlying cash balance in 2013-14 would be a deficit of $30.1 billion. The following year's balance would be a $24 billion deficit, and in 2015-16 a $4.7 billion deficit, before returning to a surplus of $4.2 billion in 2016-17.
These forecasts total a deficit of $54.6 billion over the four-year forward estimates.
The December MYEFO estimated the underlying cash balance for 2013-14 would be a deficit of $47 billion. The projections for the following three years were deficits of $33.9 billion, $24.1 billion and $17.7 billion.
These total $123 billion over the four years of the forward estimates.
The difference between the two projections is $68 billion.
The most significant single payment across the four years is a grant of $8.8 billion given to the RBA this financial year....."the RBA did not make a formal request for a cash grant".....
The combined projected deficit in the coalition's MYEFO is more than double the corresponding number in the PEFO.
PEFO (August 2013) | -30.1 | -24 | -4.7 | 4.2 | -54.6 |
MYEFO (December 2013) | -47 | -33.9 | -24.1 | -17.7 | -122.7 |
Difference | -16.9 | -9.9 | -19.4 | -21.9 | -68 |
The Coalition, in less than 8 months has DOUBLED the deficit. A Fact.

The last one you started on EXACTLY the same topic still hasn't even left the front page: http://community.ebay.com.au/t5/Community-Spirit/Labors-MESS-they-left-Australia-in/m-p/1213117#U121...
Why on earth do you keep repeating the same topic over and over?
Is it because you believe that only by repeating the same propaganda over and over will it suddenly - miraculously - become true?
Is it because you are trying to convince yourself?
Is it because you can't face the reality of what the current government is doing?
Why?

Over $600 billion debt and deficit and stretching into the future, land mined and legislated by Labor to Abbott proof any change and in the full knowledge that the money was never going to be there???
That is a fact worthy of being posted on here and shooting the messenger is never going to change those facts. Poor disappointed.

ALP notched up a deficit of $54.6 bn over 6 years saved us from GFC. Coalition ADDED $68 bn in 28 weeks & blaming ALP. In a nutshell.
The fact is that we have the third lowest debt per capita in the world, and a Triple A rating by the IMF, all because the Labour government stimulated the economy with perfect timing to avoid the recession that the rest of the world suffered.
What exactly did Labor do to mess our country up? This so called "budget emergency" is a joke and has even been laughed at by the reserve bank and top experts and analysts in the economic and financial fields. With labor Australia gained and retained a AAA credit rating NOT with liberals, Labor introduced land breaking reforms in education and NDIS as well as the now to be ended NBN and the carbon tax.
What has abbott done since being in power? He's cut gonski, slashed NDIS funding, wants to repeal the carbon tax, cut household assistance, cut school kids bonus, cut over 12, 000 public service jobs and put a freeze on natural attrition has abused and manipulated entitlements, cut super payments to low income earners to give concessions to wealthy people, has cut low income earners maternity leave pay to fund greater maternity leave pay for wealthy mothers, a new tax on debt, increased petrol tax etc. etc. And the budget isn't even out yet so god knows what else they have in mind for the plebs.
Until the LNP can give us evidence of this "budget emergency" then all the cries of "labour mess" are just repeated mantras of crying wolf.
Where's the policy for growth and policies for the people. Running a country isn't all about the economy. It's about providing for its citizens and looking after them regardless of their situation. Otherwise, what's the point. Why are we paying all these taxes just to have a surplus when the actual people of the country are going to be denied basic services. It makes absolutely no sense.

well said Alexanderbeetle.
...I for one still don't understand why Hockey literally tripped over himself, knocking over the cigar box in his haste to make this 8.8 Billion payment - it certainly was not requested
