I think they needed the extremeS to out Labor and then win the election (in the age of climate change acceptance) and they knew it.
Now WE and everything around us (including the air we breath) are expected to pay for all the help they had to get there.

I would have gladly helped in the demise of Labor and the success of the Liberals but nobody asked me for money, nobody took anything from me or my family so just what they got from Australians for their success is a mystery, maybe it was the millions of votes?? who knows.
Maybe we could blame the press, the ABC, climate change Tim Flannery, the wealth makers like the mining industry, the farmers and retail? the workers of this country? I don't know, who can we blame for the Liberals success and continuing successes?.
Who can we blame for Labor's fall to the same level as the Greens Party in the Senate election?

silverfaun, It was the previous Coaltion government that overspent. That plus the world downturn are the things that are causing the problems, not Labor. See my previous post.

silverfaun, The Coalition didn't win the election, Labor lost it due to the Murdoch press, the economic downturn, Labor infighting, and indifference of young people not voting or even registering to vote. Huge numbers of people are now realising their mistake and are shifting back to Labor and the Greens, as reflected in the polls, which are giving Labor 52-55% of the two party preferred vote. Chris

I don't think any sane person thought for 1 minute that we'd get off scot free after the 6 years of Labors profligate and wasteful spending.
Now we are privvy to the mental instability of Rudd and his complete meltdowns and panic attacks to the extent that he put Captain Queeg to shame, and not one of those labor MP's thought it was in the national interest to blow the whistle on him.
Not one of those disgraceful power hungy excuses for a government rep wondered how this madman became PM and stayed PM for as long as he did.
Nothing Labor says or does will ever convince the people that they could ever be trusted in government again.

And those poor excuses are still there, bare faced and hypiocritical, so it will be interesting to see how they can re brand themselves into credible MP's all the while for the next 3 years we are going to suffer to try to get some kind of balance back in the budget.
No matter how much the left wish and hope they will regain power it's just that, wishing and hoping while the rest of Australia are praying they never get back.
