I just watched LIVING WITH THE ENEMY on SBS. The story about Ben the Aussie going to live with Lidia and Ahmed the muslims. Lidia is an Aussie and was raised Catholic and converted to Islam. Ahmed was born in Saudi Arabia.
What did I learn?
- Muslim women wont shake hands with a male person their not related to. (Very rude).
- When husband and wife muslims pray in their own house, the wife has to pray behind her husband. (Women are not treated as equals even in their own house).
- Christians are not allowed to visit Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Why? Because you have to be muslim to be allowed.
- Mosques can be built all over Australia but we can't build a Church in Saudi Arabia.
- The Quran tells muslims to kill people.
- In the mosque women are behind the curtain at the back. It's their own area. Why? Because the men have to be in a different section. Why? To give women privacy. This is the reason they cited. The real reason I believe is not to cause desire in the men.
- When they went shopping they visited a halal butcher to buy lamb shoulder. Ben wasn't consulted. What if he wanted pork chops?
- They went to Bondi to do an "Aussie thing called surfing". Lidia went swimming in her full Islamic clothing then when she came out of the water she placed a towel around her depicting the Australian flag.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Just so that I understand...
It would be OK to eat an item with a halal sticker as long as the word 'Allah' isnt included on that sticker? Because of course 'halal' does not mean 'false God'. It is simply a muslim way of saying "This tucker is A-OK to eat".
So seeing as no halal sticker mentions Allah, then all is well in the world again.
And as fruit and vege don't normally have any stickers, then they are also OK even if they are halal.
I understand now. So long as the halal label does not mention Allah, then I won't go to hell when I eat it!
Thanks for clearing that up.

Apologies bushie. It;s just that this has been explained so many times on the numerous threads on the same topic that I find it frustrating that something so simple can be so fantastically misinterpreted.

You just don't get it. Unbelievable. If you want to bow down and serve false gods you are destined for hell.

HALAL means = "Foods that are permissible for muslims to eat or drink under Islamic Shariʻah"

all chickens / turkeys / ducks etc are halal ie throat slit and hung upside down to drain blood. Imagine their death next time you eat chicken.
What sharia law do we have?
Umm and you might want to check out any old slaughter house when you get a chance - all animals are hung upside down to bleed them out before cutting them up.
So unless you are 100% vegetarian you will be eating an animal (halal or not) that has been killed in exactly the same way. Imagine that next time you tuck into your KFC...
I know very well how chickens are slaughtered - I used to work in an abbatoir.
As far as halal is concerned, if the animal is stunned first, it can die ie heart stops and blood is not pumped out sufficiently when throat is cut - not Halal.
Halal is part of sharia law (as far as I know). Why are so many companies bowing to this halal certification to satisfy 2% of our population?

Oh I get it alright. I get the WHOLE picture rather than the distorted version you are seeing with one eye only.
Anyway if this thread is any indication of the people that I am keeping company with in hell then it sounds like a much more preferable place to be lol.

we are all bound for hell anyway - not the Catholic hell with permanent burning etc - hell = the grave. I guess you'd call those who are cremated - preburned.

Ahh. Incorrect.
The word HALAL directly translates to permissable or allowable. You can add as many extras to suit your argument if you want but it is rare in any language for a single word to mean 13 others in a single sentence.
