When I drive in Melbourne I lock my doors. When driving in the country no I don't. My reasoning is probably a bit strange, but I'm happy with it.

Someone should have locked the doors in the car George Michael was in AND told him to wear a seatbelt-how odd

The central locking on my thing is controlled by the drivers door lock button, press it down it locks them all etc, i dont lock myself in while driving at any time tho, but at times while stationary i had to use it, depends on what the characters on foot near by looks like:-D
and i dont allow window cleaners to touch my car at the lights either, i find them to be a nuisance, most of them dont finish the job by the time the lights turns green

As soon as my bottom hits the seat I lock my doors.

I didn't until buy daughter was carjacked by 5 youths, stopped at the lights and was ripped from her car and robbed! If they try it again on her or me they WILL be run over!

I often do. I was at a Police talk on road safety and they said you should always lock your door, especially now with all the doors that are unlocked. They can just open one door and get in. Another thing the Police said and it applies to MOST women is putting your handbag on the seat next to you. They just open the door, grab the bag and they're gone.
I like the window down but on the passenger door I don't have it down far enough for someone to put their arm in and grab anything,
When I was a new driver as a teenager, I had someone jump into the car and demand that I dove them to a location. I was so shocked I just did it. Another reason to lock the door.

donna, i assume you are referring to a new car you bought? all new cars should come with a owners manual, you'll find that in the glovebox:8}.. have a read, which should contain a guide on how to operate the central door locking system.
