OOHh lets see, labor party and the UNIONS and our cost of wages and UNIONS and super and insurance and UNIONS and holiday pay and all the days off and double time and extra time and and and and even more and the UNIONS.

Yes Australia is a great place to employee call centre staff.....

As far as an election issue shuggs why dont you hop on the phone and ring Julia or your favourite Labor polly and have a word with them about it.... 🙂

Australia has one of the world's highest call centre agent salaries, with entry level positions earning around $40,000 a year, compared with around $3,500 in the Philippines and even less in India

thats a ration of 11.4 call centre staff in the Philippines to 1 in Australia

Call centre salaries in India start at around $250 a month, while in the Philippines, the going rate is around $300.

Last year, the Philippines overtook India as the world's call centre hub, with industry estimates putting the number of agents at around 400,000, compared with 350,000 in India.

Call centre salaries in India start at around $250 a month, while in the Philippines, the going rate is around $300.

Analysts such as Stephanie Bauer, an Outsourcing analyst for management consultancy Fifth Quadrant, say it all comes down to the accent.

"The Philippines, as an option for customer contact communication, offers a relatively neutral English accent and a good cultural alignment relative to the Indian destination, where the accent is less neutral."

While Indian call centres might dispute this, their Filipino competitors say that American businesses are moving their call centre work to the Philippines in part because of complaints from customers in the US who struggle to understand Indian accents.

It helps that the English spoken in the former US colony retains an American twang.

But the industry association believes workers have more to offer than just an American accent - Raffy David says the "caring nature" and "compassion" of the Filipino "seems to get the job done".

Maybe nero thinks that all the billions in profit that the ANZ make should be donated to an overseas call centre rather than paying Aussies a decent wage.

It's disgusting.

Beer and maybe football call centres could work, but on second thoughts there would never be a consensus of opinion in the call centres

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I hate the overseas call centres and jump up and down till they find me an Australian speaking person.

It is wrong for us the paying public to have to put up with non Australians who don't have a clue what is happening here.
