Chronic exaggeration is one of the main symptoms,donna. You'll have a good opportunity to familiarise yourself with this particular symptom,some time during May.

So if he only coughs when I walk past it is a good indication? Still well enough to go to the pub.....that sort of thing? Smiley LOL

Man Flu Symptoms

A recent problem with the flu.

In January my brother in law got what he said was a cold.

Friends and family were telling him to get to the DR but he said I am all right.

After a week his wife called the DR to the house and was diagnosed with the flu and told to take it easy, rest and drink lots of water etc.

The next day he was having trouble breathing so his wife took him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

After a week of not getting better with treatment he was put into an induced coma  to give his lungs the chance to rest and repair.

After 2 weeks there was little improvement so he was transferred to the Royal Adelaide hospital and he was then put on life support and had oxygen pumped through his main artery through the groin to oxygenate his blood.

After a week of this with no improvement he passed away after a bleed to the brain from the pressure of the oxygen being pumped around his body that caused a vein to burst in his brain.

This was a known risk before doing the procedure but with out the procedure he would have passed away sooner and all from having the flu and not getting it seen to sooner.

So better to get it looked at than think it will be ok.

Better to be safe than sorry.

They thought it was a man flu as well till the Dr was needed.

I'm not sure if Glen's was the same scenario as your BIL but it started out as just the flu, he wasn't sick enough to bother with the Doctor to begin with, but it progressed to hime being transferred to a bigger Hospital and he was gone within about a fortnight.

Utters the following

"Where is the remote;

where were you, I needed you;

this drink is too hot (cold);

What's this Downtown drabbey thingey DVD;

nothing on tv

Fever contributes to:

his not being able to get comfortable;

refusal to take medication

hang dog look about the eyes;

a delirious urge to "sweat it out" in bed/on lounge with the "nurse";

Donna, just call the ambulance. Smiley Very Happy

Oh, heavens I'm slow.Smiley Sad

I am so sorry to hear about those deaths.  I believe a "flu" bug can get into the heart, too.

My condolences to you Sparkls, Freddie.
