An unnamed man recently spent about US$500 on an unusual surgery to save the life of his pet goldfish at the Toll Barn Veterinary Centre in Norfolk.

He had observed that his pet was having a difficult time eliminating its waste. 29-year-old vet Faye Bethell performed the 50-minute procedure.

Anaesthetic had to be most carefully administered since the slightest of over dosage may send Goldie straight to fish heaven.

Tiny instruments were then used to remove the offensive lumps from the fish’s backside.

The three-year-old three-inch goldfish enjoyed a speedy recovery. If you must know, goldfish can live up to ten years.
