Just heard this on TV. Owner said he thought it was a light hearted idea. I didn't catch it all but I think he said it wasn't handed out at the dinner.
crikey - It was that restaurant named in the link on a previous thread in this topic.

what did he say? i cant hear anything..
blah blah blah... did you click on the little round red symbol at the start of the title.
From memory first he saw it was on the other workers facebook page, then he dribbled on about Joe Hockey talking about abortion and how he didn't like what he was saying. He also tried before sending it to people but they never replied (I think most of that was in the other threads).

I hope they name and shame the two responsible for its distribution.
Why? What they did may not be fair, but they haven't broken any laws. In the other thread it said a 'past' employee who reosted it on twitter.
It seems they may have. Intellectual Property Laws - Theft - maybe Defamation if they said that the menu was at the function and it wasn't. Passing Off.
I guess it all depends on what they said when distributing it and how much and what type of damage they have caused as to who may make a case against them.
I am reasonably certain that the menu was not theirs to redistribute.

It seems suss to me - why would he go to all the trouble of printing up such an extensive menu for his own amusement?
It would take less than 5 minutes. He probably had the proper menu on his computer already and just opened that and changed it and printed it...
That's what my OH said earlier today when you pointed out to me that the menus were probably not handled by a printing company.
And yes, as you say, only 5 minutes at most.

I dont agree crikey. it was a fake menu not an official document or private details about the owner or his business.
In another thread on this topic you said no way would that be the restaurant involved.. one with meals at $68 a head, wouldn't be doing a dinner at $1000 a head. You were completely wrong there weren't you?
apparently so. They don't even have a PDR.
I'm not sure what you don't agree with me about though - I don't know which post to which you refer.

Not much of any interest in that. He found it on another workers facebook and reposted it last evening.
Nowhere does he say he was still working there at the time and saw the fake menu being put on the tables does he?
Good Point. However, he has still betrayed the trust of his former employer - guess he won't be able to use him on his resume, eh? And who else would want him now? Who else would want to work with him? Maybe he can get a job with labor as an informant.
ROFL - imagine if it does turn out to be true - they will knight him for service to his country LOL

I though the timing was due to the second person who found it on facebook and reposted it on twitter at a later date. Whether that was random or planned who knows.
but didn't the chef say he originally sent it to people but he got no response? He mused that maybe they were too busy or something?
I wonder if he said - "hey here was the menu at this function" or "hey, I saw this on Facebook today" I wonder if he assigned blame.
