Yes they should be fighting for their land and families.

Who exactly should they fight with?  Most of them do not want Assad to stay in the power, and in any case, the Assad's army fights mainly by dropping bombs, as do the Russians, and Americans.  Then there are various groups fighting Assad and ISIS, and each other, and then we have the Kurds who are fighting ISIS and also Turkey.  And Turkey fights the Kurds and takes a pot shot at anybody who gets too close - like Russian fighter plane.

Who’s fighting whom in Syria? Explained in 90 seconds

I accept it is a complex issue but running away is not always the answer.

Migrants Attack

This situation in Europe did not only happen just now:

Refugees of the Syrian Civil War
Total population: 6,000,000+ refugees and expatriates estimated (January 2016) 4,815,360 refugees (registered)
Turkey2,715,789 (registered, 3 March 2016)
Lebanon1,500,000 (estimated arrivals Dec 2015) 1,067,785 (registered)
Jordan1,400,000 (estimated arrivals Aug 2015) 639,204 (registered)

It has been developing over many years, and Europe just ignored it.  Just as they ignored the Muslim refugees during the Yugoslavian conflict in 1990s.  People traveled across Europe, many heading to Sweden.  I was there and talked to number of them with shocking stories; it was only later that we learned the full horror of Srebrenica, Sarajevo and Kosovo.  These atrocities were happening while we (the west) just pretty much watched on.

If countries around the world started to accept refugees from the Syria/Iraq area few years ago, if they were properly processed and given chance it would end up lot better than it is going to.  What in the hell do people expect?  Some of these kids that are running riot in Europe have been displaced few years ago.  Lets say 12 - 16years old kids who escaped from ISIS occupied area, which is being bombed by everybody, would be pretty traumatised,  then spent few years in awful conditions in the camps, without education or anything to do, then arrive  in the rich world of Europe now 18+years old, and are unemployable, probably suffer from PTD and are angry.  They will be a problem.  So what do you do?  Send him back to Turkey?  Would you be surprised if he was soon on his way to fight with ISIS?

Why are police escorting ambulances etc? Surely that is not made up.

Actually, that sounds like Australia, attacks on paramedics and mediacal staff in hospitals are all too common:

I also know that many hospitals around the world do have security guards protecting staff from assault by patients and their relatives.

Attacks on paramedics and medical staff in hospital, and also firemen when they are attending fires, is something that is happening in Australia and other parts of the world.

I do understand what you are saying, but are we meant to feel sorry for those that wish to do harm to the western way of life because they may have post traumatic stress disorder? I agree that we dont really know whether or not those guys in the 60 minutes clip were provoked or not, but still, to run over the camera mans leg/foot, become physically agressive and or verbally abusive (with no repercussion) when the crew may have provoked, but really? They are provocative by default simply because they are asking questions and carrying cameras etc.  It's a bit like saying "a woman provoked being raped because she was dressed in a skimpy outfit flirting with guys at a nightclub...) No excuse I'm sorry, it's clearly just downright anti-social hostile behaviour, that needs to be checked and the appropriate punishment applied.

55 no go zones, thats just unbelievable... Anyone fact checked that number?
