Mike Baird. I dunno about you...

I have said on these borads before that I thought he was genuine and generally I didn't mind him.

But in the lead up to the NSW campaign, he has stooped to standard Liberal tactics of lying through his teeth.

Take his latest pledge - he is going to create 150,000 new jobs. 150,000!! Out of thin air apparently because nothing he has said actually backs this up. In fact, everything he is planning to do will actually throw more people on the unemployment scrap heap.

So how can any man with morals make a statement that is clearly untrue - that just by electing him, he will be able to create enough jobs to put a 20% dent in the current unemployment figures?

I am still  undecided  as to who to vote for .

I tend to think Labor are more corrupt  but not sure about  the Librals either . I'm wondering if the 50% of poles are sold for 40 bil for 99 years as Lib estimate how much revenue  would NSW have earned?

Heard on an add they are earning  1.7 bil per annum so  that would be 850 million per year revenue  we miss out on.

seems bad maths to sell to me  as it all needs maintaining as well.

I can't  help  thinking its a bit like bogans and the baby bonus ... seems amazing to get a large sum of money but once  its gone you still have a kid to raise.

I don't  like the idea of say China buying it either. On the other hand Labor are making heaps of promises  but i am wondering where they are getting the money

I suppose the same way Labor has lied all through this campaign re poles and wires. A complete scare mongering campaign run by Labor and Unions.

It's academic anyway, Labor will not win this Saturday, nobody with even one brain cell would ever contemplate returning to the completely corrupt Labor gov. NSW suffered for years, only the rusteds will do that.

Obviously you have no clue what Bairds policies are on electricity. And you don't read the papers. And you don't keep up with Liberal Party news.

Cause if you did you would know that there are no Labor lies because the reality is that Baird will be selling off assets including electricity.

And quite frankly it doesn't matter who the culprit is or what party they come from - any politician that sells off something valuable like this that can never be recouped is short sighted and plain idiotic. It's a shame you can't see past your Liberal bias to understand this.

Che?

What lies and scaremongering?

Is it NOT true that he will be effectively moving control of electricity (and pricing) out of government hands into the hands of profit making corporations? Is this a lie?

Is it a lie that he has already met with FOREIGN investors who have shown interest in this deal?

Is it a lie that selling off nearly 50% of one public asset is effectively giving a profit making entity a monopoly on what should be a regulated, government asset?

It doesn't matter what side of poiltics you are on, this should not be acceptable to anyone in NSW.

The fact check was only on the statement: "In South Australia, following privatisation, families pay the highest electricity bills in Australia."

And I should point out that South Australia put strong regulation in place to ensure prices would be kept low and they spread the sale across broken up sectors with many different companies buying chuncks instead of one large sale which is planned for NSW.

However, when they deregulated electricity prices DID skyrocket.

So yes, factcheck is correct - privatisation itself did not cause an increase but the de-regulation of those private assets some 7 years later DID.

The only thing that has kept the prices relatively low is that the SA government was smart enough to sell in sections so the industry has competition.

That is not happening in NSW.

Foley is lying and the unions are lying, they are running a scandalous scare and total lying campaign. It's a disgrace that rusteds find this acceptable but why doesn't that suprise the genuinely interested and concerned voters.

Whatever it takes eh?
