They are shrimp which I think can be pink when raw. In the story it says that they are only 1cm or less.
at that size they sound like shrimp as you say

Maybe a hot underwater current killed them? Chile is always having volcano eruptions and earthquakes

I was just trying to think of what to buy for dinners over the weekend. Chilli prawns sounds like a good idea.
