It seems there are obections now to the fact that in Chess the first move is always made by the white.

Garry Kasparov, the Russian who was the game’s number one player for the best part of three decades, couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw news.com.au’s coverage of the debate, which aired on Wednesday.

It came after ABC host James Valentine saw a post on Twitter noting white moved first in the popular board game and thought it was worthy of further discussion.

Fair to say Kasparov didn’t. “If you are worried that the game of chess is racist, please take up Go, where black moves first, instead of looking foolish by wasting taxpayer money at a state broadcaster to ‘investigate’ it!” the 57-year-old tweeted.

I would have liked to get a link on the ABC page about it but not surprisingly can't find any.

Thanks amber for taking the time to find that response from James Valentine.

His is always a very entertaining programme, with plenty of laughs and sillyness.  I'm sorry now that I missed the chess discussion.

This was delivered I like to think in a fairly heavy handed sarcastic tone and for those familiar with my program, I think they would have got the joke.

The heading had a question mark and my comment used the  word 'seem'. 

It  was put out there as a piece of light  and ambiguous  entertainment and most ppl,took it that  way   but you sound so offended.

So if, in all fairness, people also demand that the white keys be removed from pianos at the same time, then does that mean the world is left with keyless pianos?

If it is a black or a white coloured piano ... then with all the keys gone, that will cause one heck of a problem for the pianist even if it has a natural wood grain built body ... 

So is the solution  >>>> any bright coloured piano case with black keys must be a different colour, and the white keys a different colour? ... problem solved ... but then from what to do with the millions of original pianos on the planet, it's a little hard to spray paint the keys ... 

Other things such as genuine licorice will have to change;  Meringues will be doomed;  Black and white cockatoos banned from the skys;  Oh my, the list is endless, what will we do ....
