Bendigo is in the goldfields - beautiful old buildings, unbelievable gardens, right into sport, really good looking place.
Very multi cultural - stong Indigenous history, huge Chinese history (museum, gardens, joss house etc etc), heaps of Karen refugess, biggest Buddhist Temple and Centre so u can see it very multi cultural
What we dont have is a mosque. What the Muslims are planning to build is a mosque.
OMG = Shame Job = people are protesting, I am so embarrassed by these people. Why these people do this? Are they ignorant or what? Or are they really truly scared these Muslims (Who live here already) are all of a sudden gonna turn into terrorists cos they have a mosque? This is very weird.................. they pray now but at the Uni, there be a prayer room, whatever thats called, they want there own place.
So I ask these people - "What exactly is the problem here?" And I get stuff like "terrorists, go home to their own country (When they say this I lift an eyebrow and stare at em but they miss it ofcourse)
Im not Muslim, I dont even know a Muslim but I dont understand one bit why we protest against people wanting a church, this embarrasses me LOL
Do you people have mosques near you? Is this a big deal?

Yes we have one nearby. It is embarrassing for everyone that some feel the need to protest against places of prayer.

Would one of our resident right-wing anti-Islam fundamentalists care to answer Lobs' question?
I don't understand it either.

love your work Lobs
There is a mosque where I grew up. It's been there as long as I can remember and no-one gave rat's wotsit. The Hare Krishna's caused a stir when they showed up though.
I think the media likes to stir. The first thing I saw on my news page today was this
Islamic Sunni authorities say Russell Crowe's new film Noah violates Islam by portraying a prophet.
Well D'uh. Of course the Islamists (and probably the Jehovahs and some other religions) are not going to agree with the films content. Why is that even news worthy? Because the media are trying to promote anti-muslim ideals?

The article says:"Muslims and Christians might have their differences but they are united on one thing - they don't like Russell Crowe's new film Noah."
Has anyone seen it? When / Where is it on? What's in it that would upset anyone?
Let's face it, most of the films about the Bible do not follow the script very well and most are made by Jews anyway - Directors, Producers, Stars etc.

well it is the product of judaism (the bible) so i miss that point.

As for the Mosque there is a travelling circus of serial ranters who appear whenever someone wants to build one. they disappear back into the woodwork once its up and running with no ill effects as is the pattern. ignore them, give them no oxygen.

What has being Jewish got to do with it?
Lobs I don't have a mosque near me, but my aunt and uncle do. Sometimes when the wind is blowing the right way they can hear the call to prayer, but other than that no problems

i wouldnt have a clue if there is a mosque in my town or not, the only objection i would have is if they built it next door to me - i have lived beside 2 churches and never wish to live near any again.
noisy dang worshippers interfering with my sunday morning sleep ins grrr.

I just read a review of the film - and, as I thought, it's am agnositic's interpretation of a what he calls a fable - nothing to do with the Bible. In fact it's a total misrepresentation of the Bible, Flood, God, Noah and the Nephlim.
The point I was making about Jews being involved in the making of the film is just that - the Old Testament at least has a Jewish / Israelite basis - so if anyone should be against it, it should be the Jews - if they are true Jews....
I have accepted long ago that no movie (that I have seen) about the Bible follows the Bible with any degree of accuracy - and by the look of the reviews, this one is the worst.
