Motivational quotes

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced those who don't like motivational quotes are the ones who need them the most.

You know, there's an arrogance about this one. Not having a go at the poster, just the quote. It's like, I'm better than those who don't have the same opinion on things I do.

Just seems off.

I have to disagree.

If you are the type of person who can shake off other people's negativity, and not let what others think effect you, you're not exactly *better* than other people, but you are *better off*.

Ever listened to a song and felt like the lyrics really touched you?

Almost as if they had been written for/to/about/because of you?

It's kind of eerie.

I know it can be explained as synchronicity (great word, took me three tries to spell it correctly, lol) but all the same, the feeling that someone put your thoughts, your feelings into words in a way you couldn't manage, yourself, is a strange, almost flattering feeling.

There's a track on an album I've owned since before I care to remember that still resonates with me in that way.

Maybe it's that there's nothing new under the Sun, that all the words have already been written and all we're doing is wandering, lost, until we find them and they give our lives meaning.

Or maybe I'm one of those unimaginative, unauthentic, lazy people who prefers to use other people's words.

I once had a song that I just listened to over and over on my iPad, very softly so no-one else could hear, (in a very dark time of life) as I was trying to go to sleep. After a hard day, it was the only thing that seemed to comfort me, however depressing it was. That song just summed my life up completely and I was absolutely in love with it for about six months. I still love it, but I don't listen to it nearly as much now... I'd be depressed as death if I did 😛

BUT, then why the need for the quote if you can "shake off" other people's negativity?

To remind those people who aren't so great at dealing with negativity...

DUH.

Yes. Be yourself. What others think doesn't matter.
