Julia Gillard has a new job as an honorary visiting professor at her alma mater, the University of Adelaide.
The former prime minister and the university said they were delighted with the appointment, which will begin on November 1.
Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Warren Bebbington, said Ms Gillard will make a significant contribution to the university's School of History and Politics.
"As Australia's first female prime minister, Julia Gillard has unique knowledge and experience to offer any university and we are honoured that she has chosen to return to the University of Adelaide, where she began her tertiary education," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Through her contribution to seminars and our internship program, she will share her experiences and insights with both current and future students."

I wish her well and can't help thinking she'll be much happier in that role.

I wonder if it was connected to the $100 million she gave to the University just weeks before she lost her job???
Shocking. Fancy giving money for a cancer research centre. Shouldn't be allowed.

I can't see why it matters if she is paid or not. The experience and knowledge that she will have to pass onto the students will be an invaluable resource for them.
If she is paid to do that, why is that a bad thing?

she is entitled to be paid for her time.

Good luck to her. What will she be lecturing on? How to run a parliament while being stabbed repeatly by her comrades?
