My Mums update thread

This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.

Photobucket

On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.

Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.

She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage

I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

That is a hard decision Amy, and a very brave one, sometimes you just have to stand up for yourself, or, in this case, your Mum. Hope it all works out.

My Mums update thread

Well, its now been 3 years since Mums accident.
The 3 year anniversary was last Friday actually.
3 years.
I dunno if it feels like a lifetime or if it feels like it's gone fast?
I wonder what it feels like to Mum?

Anyway, today i made this video and i wanted to share it with all of you

hi amy, i've not posted in here before. i've tried several times but everything I typed seems so stoopid & useless.
Your pain screams out of the pages & my heart aches for you hon.
Your dad sounds like an incredible man, don't take to heart his going off at you, in a way it's a good thing as he releasing some of his pain.
Situations like this make you feel helpless, seeing someone you love "suffer" is an incredibly hard thing to go thru & then you hae the feelings of guilt for the times you wish it would just all stop, that the loved one could be released from the state they are in . when someone dies it's terrible but after the funeral you start down the rd of healing, when they are here but not here the grief feelings are there but never ending & after years of this you know what the inevitable is..it's a cruel limbo for everyone concerned.
Hon, I think you are totally awesome, you are holding it together for everyone, you are stronger than i'd be.
re the solicitors, is there any help the oz government can give your dad so that his house is not at risk, maybe if it comes to that...a loan he could pay off over time like the girl who went o/s for a transplant?
it would be a shame if he had to sell his house for that, if he didn't want to stay in it later on at least he'd have it to sell & move elsewhere.

My Mums update thread

hi all

wal- nothing posted on this thread is stupid or useless. A lot of the thigs written here, no matter how small, have helped me so much โ™ฅ
I contacted the Aus gov years ago when we wernt sure if the travel insurance was going to bring Mum home and they said they dont help in situations like this. So i doubt they would help now.
Honestly, dad doesnt care if he has to sell the house. At least he will know that he tried to do something for Mum. If he does loose, and the solicitor really thinks that is highly unlikely, he will have enough from selling up, to pay the fees and buy a small unit up near Mum. Thats what his 5 year plan was anyway.
