After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

Happy Mothers Day!

Good afternoon all .......
I haven't been around for a while as there has been so much to do and I thought I might never catch up ... .... but I almost have now ....
Today is a 'half fun, half work' day, so there is an enormous hummingbird cake just cooked and cooling in the kitchen, the washing is done, work is finished and now it's up and onward with rehearsals for next month's concert and then after that, I'm off interstate for a master class on the big island up north.
Never a dull moment ...
Hope everyone here is well and getting through the winter in the warmest way. There has been snow in the mountains here but not enough yet.

.........quiet as a mouse right through the whole house"
A lot of animals and birds taking shelter from the weather and seeking trapped warmth? And the fishpond life is slowing too, with the lilies disappearing and the fish not so eager for a feed.
The wild wind appears to have blown itself away. Substantial twigs spearing into the muddy ground made it dangerous to get outdoors very much.
Discovered that water seepage, after the prolonged heavy rains, comes to the surface in my backyard. Make it a feature? Or put in some drainage pipes? Unfortunately, it's just outside the door of the Shed of Shame (useless, might-come-in-handy stuff). The first time in 4 years it's happened.......probably stay as-is.
Been doing a fair bit of reading...Guy de Maupassant short stories.
Tasfleur is showing some enthusiasm with some

Deb, I match your Shed of Shame with the House of Hibernation. Things that cannot be thrown out or given away in case they are useful in a year or two or ten.

*sigh*
We were forced to sort out throw away most of our "it will be useful .... eventually" stuff before we moved - and I am already missing some of the bits and pieces! We just don't have the same amount of storage space for that sort of stuff here, unfortunately... Talking about building another shed in the back yard for a Man Cave for the OH.
Been a busy few days - I got thoroughly spoilt on Mother's Day..
More reno work...
Then it was DYD's birthday....
And now it is FREEZING here!
BTW... does anyone know where I put my passport???? Can't find it anywhere

It's not in my huge wooden trunk of 30-40 year old balls of Bluebell knitting yarn - a son just turned 41 and there are 60-70 year old patterns for the wool to make him and his cousins' matinee jackets and other baby stuff - they are part of my mum's "I'll get round to it" projects.
