Im so upset. I dont know what to do.
Have been working on this bathroom for a year.
I took this photo a month ago. Things in place but water not connected
Have had a few plumber problems but they have been fixed.
Today plumber was here connecting final pipes for the vanity. He did it and called me to see. We were standing in front of the vanity when there was a BOOOOM and the glass top exploded.
Plumber says "Oh dont know why that would have happened. Oh well, it was installed. Maybe you can claim it on insurance"
I dont know what to do. Im in shock and in tears.
Hubby bought this vanity 5 years ago. I know theres no way we can replace it.
And now im gonna have to pay a plumbers bill of fitting this vanity and then also to fit a new one

Excerpt from installing a glass basin:-
"Properly installing a drain means hand tightening only. Over-tightening with a wrench is not necessary and is absolutely not recommended. In addition, the plumber or homeowner should use a bead of silicone during installation - or at least make sure that no metal contacts the glass. Most drains have gaskets that will prevent metal to glass contact."

update
Insurance is going to pay us an amount. Technically they are only paying enough to replace the glass top as that is all that broke but even they admit they have been unable to find a replacement to suit.
At this stage the amount looks to be $615.
That wont cover a replacement for a whole new vanity but it will be close.

Is the man-of-the-house a bit happier now, with that news, Amy?

Like icy said hopefully it'll break the ice. Really hope things improve and please do take care of yourself and the kids 🙂
Its great that you are getting some coverage for the vanity at least, hopefully you'll be able to track down a replacement. Does the place you brought it from know any suppliers?

Hi all
based on the probability of us getting $615 from the insurance, we went vanity shopping on the weekend.
Found one we liked for $710.
I asked if the could do a better price.
They came back with $575, so we ordered it and will pick it up next Saturday.
The cupboard past is very similar to our old one but the top is not glass.
Will post a pic once its in
