NBN CEO admits customer complaints are still too high, but promises to fix it in under a year

well of course complaints are high, we got promised a faster, cheaper and better NBN than labor were going to deliver.
we are getting a slower, more expensive second rate NBN.
any NBN that has copper wire in it will never deliver the speeds the future internet users will require. its not even able to deliver whats needed now.
in my case, i got fibre to the node, so my internet comes at super high speed to my local node box (about 1.3km from my house) then it gets switched to my old telephone copper cable where it slows down to walking speed to my house. not what was promised.
can it be fixed, i dont know but i doubt it as it would cost lots and lots of money.

I need my landline phone more than I need fast internet. I've been told it's fibre to the premises here.
So I'm on the NBN (phone was due to be cut off early next month so ti wasn't as though I had a choice) and I've discovered the slightest electrical hiccup (in this case a ONE second interruption due to high winds) was enough to cause my phone to stop sending and receiving calls. Grrrrr. There's nothing like progress when all our eggs are in one basket (ie electricity) and I can easily end up with the phone not working.
Added to that I was not happy with where the NBN box was installed but it was made clear to me that it was the only place to put it. It's massively inconvenient and is clearly going to be an onling issue if there are any more occasions when the phone mysteriously drops out. Sigh.

NBN was switched on in my town last month, no way i am going to get it hooked up until all the probs get sorted out ..... We have until July next yr, so I'm not in any rush. Telstra sent me a bright, shiny new modem n phone, they are still sitting in their boxes and will be for quite a while.
Think you may have been given the incorrect info re "fibre to the premises", the Lib gov, shut the lid on that one

I have never had slower more glitchy and crud internet in my life as what the NBN has been

Some did get fibre to the home but not many, they were allready set up before mal, the guy who practically invented the internet got his hands on the nbn.
oh, and i forgot in my opening rant about the phones not working during power failures. so if like me your in a poor mobile area then the power goes out, you'll need to drive somewhere to make an emergency call.

My mistake, didnt realise that anyone had been "lucky" enough to get fibre from the node to the house ...... i will ask around and find out, who has had the NBN connected in my town and what probs they may be having, if any

I can identify with that scenario.
I was notified of the date that they would be installing my outside "workings".....on the wall where my phone line went into the house.
Two weeks after the specified date they turned up and mounted the box on the other side of the house near the electricity meter. I was told that the inside box would be installed straight though the wall and positioned near the powerpoint but should not be in direct light from a window. If it goes straight through the wall it will be above my bedhead, opposite a window and there is no powerpoint on that wall at all.
At least two of my neighbours had had the outside box positioned on a wall where there is a built in wardrobe inside the room and definitely no accessible powerpoint.
If they had put it where they first said it would go it would have been ideal....straight through the wall would have put it in the lounge room, near the fireplace where there is a powerpoint and under the window with no direct source of light opposite.
The positioning is a bit inconvenient....at the front of the house, but my computer is at the back in the room my kids used as a study.
At least I can use my laptop most of the time.

No outside box needed here, thus we can have the inside modem positioned wherever we choose, in our case, it will sit where the old one sits at present

i think some of the problems stem from the speed they are connecting homes, they choose whats quickest and cheapest and easiest for them not whats best for the customer.
as far as telstra goes, once my home was made 'ready for nbn' the connecting up couldnt have been simpler. on the connect day, i had my new modem delivered in the morning, just before lunch, opened the box, set everything up as per instructions, switched it on and after about 10 minutes everything was working. even on my old desktop running windows vista that i thought would be a problem.
i might add though, my 'ready for nbn' wasnt so simple, got the first message from NBN Co on january 1 2017 to tell me my home was ready, but when i contacted a provider and signed up my troubles started. after waiting a week without any messages i rang the provider (not telstra) to be told my service was on 'hold'
eventually i was told, sorry we cant supply the nbn to your address, no reasons why. so i contacted NBN Co to be told there was a 'technical' difficulty at my address, should be fixed soon.
well that soon was 4 months.
i cant complain about the telstra service or price, $99 for 1000 gb download per month after previously paying $135 per month for 15gb pm. its just the lousy speeds that erks me, nothing to do with telstra. so far ive only managed to use about 4% of my monthly download, maybe 1000gb was a bit much? lol

As far as the phone was concerned I'd been with Telstra from the old Telecom days but I didn't need massive amounts of GB for the internet (I use less than 12GB a month) and have been with a different internet provider anyway. I still have my old analoge TV with PVR so I don't download movies or have signed up for Fetch or whatever it is.
Telstra's cheapest plan had more GB than I'd ever need and was more than I was willing to spend, and the internet provider I am using was cheaper but was not well rated re NBN, so I chose another company for phone and internet. However at the moment I'm actually still using the dongle for the internet. I know how to set up the wifi but my main priority was the phone and I'm seeing how that goes.
I'll probably do the wifi once I've sorted out all the cables, leads etc where the NBN is connected. It's a dog's breakfast of hastily moved furniture and stuff plugged in where I can't easily reach it. Sigh.
