Today the Coalition announced plans to deliver very fast broadband to all Australians sooner, cheaper and more affordably for consumers.
They promise

i read the same figure. try Alan Kohler's piece from yesterday from the drum. i think it may be there. read the comments if you have time, this might cause a 1 to 1/2 % adjustment in the next poll.. not much more.

No idea where the $5000 to connect is from. Is that is the amount Grandmoon is mentioned. I wasn't sure what she meant - $5.000?
If anyone expects householders to each pay $5000 to get the NBN connected to their own house under the Liberal plan, then that is ridiculous.. who would pay that?

MT said Greenfields and have it and if anyone else wants fibre they can pay for their own fibre from node connection. The default option will be the existing copper network.

Yes, but did MT give an indication of how much it would cost for householders to get the fibre from the node connection (which means wardrobe size boxes on streets?) to their house?
What is the point of building an NBN network if people can't afford to get it connected to their house? Saves the Govt dollars I know, but how much is it going to cost householders?

There will need to be about 60,000 cabinets spaced approx. 2ks apart. They'll be on every street, they will use more power and need power connected. If you're copper is bad and affects your service now it will be the same under the FTTN plan.
The $5000 comes from MT saying the cost would be comparable with BT, I think.

What is BT?
Even if it cost $1000 to get the NBN connected to your house I can't see householders paying that either. If it is a leased house, the owner wouldn't be bothered paying that. If it is your own house you would have to weigh up how long you think you will stay in the same house before paying out $1000's.

good plan isn't it ? Fox is free to connect to .. one merely pays the exhorbatant monthly subsciption .. thats why they launched 'the plan' at Fox Studios 🙂 it isn't hard to see whats going on. 'you look after me and i'll look after you tone' Love Rupert. 😉
