More Labor FAILURES
It is frightening to think how many billions of dollars we are set to lose from Rudd’s thought-bubble:
Labor’s centrepiece infrastructure project, the national broadband network, will miss its June 2014 rollout target by more than a quarter of a ..., as construction delays and problems with subcontractors continue.
Leaked internal forecasts seen by The Australian Financial Review indicate NBN Co now expects to have 855,935 existing homes and businesses ready to connect to the fibre network by June 2014. This is 273,065 fewer than the company forecast it would reach in the latest corporate plan, released in August last year.
NBN Co revealed last month it had reached 163,500 homes and businesses with fibre at the end of June 2013. This was 57 per cent fewer than it had forecast in its corporate plan.

News Corp Australia vs the NBN – is it really all about Foxtel?
....While Turnbull admitted he was personally “uncomfortable with that” possibility, the fact remains: the Coalition policy is that, ultimately, the operation of the HFC network will be subject to a new negotiation with Telstra that could leave Telstra to operate the HFC network as a wholesale asset to its own and Foxtel’s advantage.
This outcome would be much more favourable to Telstra’s Foxtel partner, News Corp, than the current deal between Telstra and the Labor Government to decommission both the Telstra and Optus HFC networks and migrate users onto the NBN.

"The Australian Financial Review reported yesterday that the NBN would miss its June 2014 rollout target by more than a quarter of a million homes, as construction delays and problems with subcontractors continued. The project is also facing cost pressures as it renegotiates contracts"
'Yesterday, both Telstra chief executive David Thodey and Foxtel chief executive Richard Freudenstein declared the high-speed broadband network good for business, saying it would help, not harm company prospects."
"The critical thing for Foxtel is to get access to more homes to be able to sell the Foxtel service," Mr Thodey said. "Anything that helps us do that is good news and so the NBN, in that sense, is helpful."
FN, Telstra actually owns 50% of Foxtel, so I will cheer any project which improves their bottom line, I just am not a fan of one (ALP NBN) that is so expensive that it requires government protection from competition, especially as currently I can watch TV archives/films via my Telstra HFC.

So you follow the "I'm alright Jack, the rest can go without" line.
Just because you can get good service and have choice does not mean the rest should miss out.
Why do you keep harping on about this protection from competition?

I find that attitude is quite common re the NBN. People in cities with reasonable broadband service now, don't seem to see the need for it as they are only looking at it from their own personal point of view. They have no idea how badly a NBN is needed in regional areas around Australia.
I asked one poster, anti NBN, if it was due to be connnected outside their house soon would they sign up for it..they never replied yay or nay.

I find it very hard to follow your thought processes FN.
I have never indicated "I'm alright Jack," or even Jill, but please post a relevant comment from myself that specifies that..
FN, my attitude /posts reflect that if the NBN is such a good (financial) project, why the need to legislate to make it a monopoly, then further require that perfectly good HFC networks close down, and also that working copper networks decommission? However, judging from your political colour you might possibly empathise with these past comments of mine:
"A State protected monopoly communication system safe from competition by law, that rings a bell!"
"Lenin’s essential claim was that state-monopoly capitalism provided the necessary technical conditions for the advance to socialism."

john. goats are off topic. i posted a nice picture of cyclops from a sinbad film and it was deemed off topic despite being right on topic.

the goats are the new signature aren't they ?

One sheep and one goat to be accurate. Hideous what ever they are (who dyed their tongues?)
I don't think they are a signature as I have signatures blocked and I can still see those animals.

Residents are also having a say which they have every right to do ...though this in itself can cause unexpected delays .
ie;
this from today
A GROUP of Guildford residents say they are prepared for a drawn-out contest against plans for a National Broadband Network tower in the town.
Looking behind the scenes at some of the tower battles, it seems many of the protagonists are fighting towers so they can get fibre instead.
I haven't looked that closely Freaki, I do know that some residents closer to me had issues with some of the 'exact' locations and I could see why .
