More Labor FAILURES
It is frightening to think how many billions of dollars we are set to lose from Rudd’s thought-bubble:
Labor’s centrepiece infrastructure project, the national broadband network, will miss its June 2014 rollout target by more than a quarter of a ..., as construction delays and problems with subcontractors continue.
Leaked internal forecasts seen by The Australian Financial Review indicate NBN Co now expects to have 855,935 existing homes and businesses ready to connect to the fibre network by June 2014. This is 273,065 fewer than the company forecast it would reach in the latest corporate plan, released in August last year.
NBN Co revealed last month it had reached 163,500 homes and businesses with fibre at the end of June 2013. This was 57 per cent fewer than it had forecast in its corporate plan.

You may think the NBN is a white elephanet but the Liberal Party certinaly doesn't think it's enough of a white elephant to scrap or even halt the roll out if they get in.

Why would the Lib/nats scrap whatever is constructed so far of the. NBN? They NEVER said any such thing. Will we be even able to afford it?, we will be forced to pay for it because Labor has created a MONOPOLY.
All the luvvies are beside themselves praising this monolith, we will have no choice and that is exactly how Labor like it.

They plan to completely gut the roll out and change everything about it if they get in.

"This is useless speculation this far out from June 2014 and nothing but politicizing for the sake of it. There is no possible way the AFR could HOPE to know what NBNCo. will pass by June next year. There’s nowhere near enough data. And without data, it’s speculation only. Which puts this firmly in the ‘well then what’s the motive for writing it then’ category."

I much prefer the Labor NBN which puts all Australians on an equal playing field as much as possible as opposed to Liberals 'Great Australian Dividing Range" policy of those with top speeds and those with "we've decided for you" speeds.

The LNP hate the NBN.
Some of my friends have been on the receiving end of attacks out of Turnbull's office all year.
It seems at the moment the appraoch is to attack people's mental health and tell them to go get effed.
Rupe has a lot at stake and he does not like competition.

I would expect most things like that to take longer ..just as I would almost always expect completion dates for building a home to not be able to met most of the time.
Residents are also having a say which they have every right to do ...though this in itself can cause unexpected delays .
ie;
this from today
A GROUP of Guildford residents say they are prepared for a drawn-out contest against plans for a National Broadband Network tower in the town.

Excellent. I think it is worth voting for Labor on their NBN policy alone. I will be very disappointed if the roll out for NBN in our town isn't completed before the election and the LNP wins the election....

The article this thread is about is pne of the most ludicrous I've seen.
The assumptions it makes are based on results 10 months away based on pure speculation.
NBN Co has recently signed new contracts. It has not renewed contracts with the troublesome Syntheo (a setup between 2 big corps specifically for NBN contracts).
For an entity that has faced open hostility from the beginning they are doing OK.
Try as he migh Rupe has not been able to shut it down yet.

Looking behind the scenes at some of the tower battles, it seems many of the protagonists are fighting towers so they can get fibre instead.
