NO BOATS or ILLEGALS since December 19 2013
Well done to the Abbott govt
No people-smuggling venture had succeeded in landing asylum seekers on Australia for more than four months, the government says.
In the latest update on Operation Sovereign Borders, Immigration Minister Scott Morrison said on Saturday that vigorous border protection activities was deterring illegal boat arrivals, even into the post-monsoon period when weather conditions usually improve.
Mr Morrison said the practice of turning back unauthorised boats remained in effect.
"Anyone seeking to enter Australia illegally by boat will be faced with the same policies those who previously attempted illegal entry met," he said in a statement.
Mr Morrison said no one had reached Australia since December 19 and that continued this month. But 3351 on 47 boats arrived in April 2013 under the former Labor government. (a Labor Failure their border policy)
The latest Operation Sovereign Borders operational update says there are now 1281 in the processing centre on Manus Island and 1177 on Nauru, making a total of 2458.
Another 1405 remain on Christmas Island. During the last week, eight asylum seekers were transferred to Nauru.
Seven unauthorised maritime arrival transferees were voluntarily returned to Iran.
Since Operation Sovereign Borders started on September 18, 220 asylum seekers have voluntarily returned to their home countries.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Please provide proof.

The proof is in the silence of the pro asylum seeker lobby.
Christmas Island is not a place where secrets can be kept as evidenced by the post by Boris on another threat - that some asylum seeks previously housed in Australia have been “secretly” returned to Christmas Island.
Therefore logic dictates if there had been any arrivals the news would have leaked out almost immediately.

No, the poster ignores the thousands of "illegal" people who arrive by air. He refuses to acknowledge that they exist.
Is obsessed with those awful "boat people".

no, the secrecy around "the boats" is absolute - it's all done under a cloud of secrecy that so far no journalist has been able to penetrate. Morrison has been caught out lying so many times that his word is meaningless. Logic dictates quite the opposite - there is no way of knowing.

The ABC news corporation should run"negative" reports on any government policy that is politially "illegal" itself. Its is not illegal in itself to arrive by boat on any shore on the globe if your are asking for assylum. The fact that our government has chossen this rhetoric is politically motivated. Nothing more.
It would be a sad day when we all start believing that the objectivness of a news orgaisation was not its measure of professionalism.

Man, this is scary stuff if you think this is howfirst world governments should functions.

There appears to be a slight flaw in you logic.
On the one hand you say the secrecy is “absolute”, “that no journalist has been able to penetrated”, but then go on to say Morrison has be caught out lying so many times, which brooks the question “if the secrecy is so absolute how did he get caught out lying.
Or let's put it another way, if the secret is so absolute, how you found out that the refugees have recently been “secretly” moved from onshore centres to Christmas Islands.
Now if you will please excuses me but I’m retired, the boat is fuelled, the tides are right, the winds are gentle with little if any swell. It time to harvest my bag limit of King George Whiting,

When in doubt, edit it out. Perfect. The best truth is that which we all hide from ourselves.

lying here on our shores, what happens out at sea is another thing entirely - only time will tell on that score.
