I'm a bit surprised that scandal didn't make a thread for discussion!
Of course in this case it was an "invasion of privacy" as against "the public have a right to know" in the case of Frances Abbot.
Race reportedly features prominently in the series of emails, some explicit, between Senator Peris and Boldon.
" ... I don't want to say oh s*** I wish I had of f***** Ato when he came to Australia … lol ... cause I regret that I didn't 10 years ago, wish I wasn't the reserved person I was back then the shy girl..lol...," Senator Peris reportedly wrote.
"so my dear friend I am waiting for you … finally BLACK… just like a Tim-tam..black on black xxx"

That Daily Leaker reader reminds me of the panellist on Rebolt this morning (on Peris). The one who is trying to out-tan George Hamilton.
Yeah, I know, I was doing some boring paperwork and left the TV on.

debra - I think this character assassination has been a big fail for the Murdoch team due to all the public support, & support from other politicians and journos.
It has. That is why people posting this carp today, only quoting from the original news story are out of touch and maybe prurient!

Coming from an aggrieved party in a court case they is nothing to say the emails weren't edited adding some of the juiciest bits for the sake of sensationalising the story.

Don't worry Polksaladallie. I usually watch Bolt while I'm having Sunday brunch. It's good for a laugh.
Don't you think that Julie Bishop looked like she was wearing her navy corduroy dressing gown with a silver heart patched on? I can say that without offence because feminism is not in her lexicon whatever that means.

No, she doesn't call herself a feminist.
Australia's first female Foreign Minister was full of sensible thoughts for the room full of professional women (and the odd nervous man). "My mother was my greatest inspiration and I recall her words to me and my two sisters. 'You can do anything. Nothing should be off limits. Follow your dreams.' This is advice I often give to young women," she said.
She talked of the need to combat sexual violence against women in war, of women's leadership in the Pacific and of helping other women into the Abbott cabinet. "As [former US secretary of state] Madeleine Albright famously said, there's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."
